Club of Hope

Negba's goal is to provide continuous support to teens aged 13-18 until they graduate from high school.
The first Club of Hope opened in October 2009. It is dedicated to the memory of Marc-Alain Spruch who died at the age of 23. This club is managed in collaboration with the association "Fanny Kaplan" and take place in its building.

club de l'EspéranceThe first group of children aged 12-13 left the Houses of Hope in July 2009. These children spontaneously asked Negba if they could stay within the framework that had cared for them for several years. Negba thus founded the first Club of Hope in Beer-Sheva, which today hosts 15 teens.

Operating during the academic year in the afternoon and through to the evening, the Club has several goals: respond to the basic needs of these adolescents – a safe environment, regular meals, a warm environment - and on this basis provide them with individualized scholastic help as well as a range of afterschool enrichment activities.

Club Layout

The Club is set up to provide teens with spaces of their own where they can work, as well as group areas. The club has a computer room (internet, educational software related to high school subjects), a library, a TV corner, and a cafeteria that is used for the afternoon snack provided when the teens arrive after school, and their dinner before they go home at night.

Staff

An instructor is in charge of the Club and is there at all times. The teens are monitored regularly by a social worker and a psychologist. Help with school work is provided by highly qualified volunteer staff.

Activities

Sponsorship

club de l'EspéranceThe teens are 'adopted' by companies in the Beer-Sheva area. Negba's aim is to have this sponsorship continue after high school. The companies could for example pay for part of these adolescents' college education, give them training courses, or help them find jobs.
